I had someone I know tell me that they wanted nothing more than to not be like their parents. I believe we all choose our own paths and to not be like your parents is a choice. She told me she didn’t want a relationship that was going to end up in marriage and her partner was more her friend than a lover. Yet this person did nothing to fix those issues and everything fell apart.
It is quite funny that she didn’t want to end up like her parents and said so many times, yet she ended up pregnant, with someone she didn’t love, that was more a friendship than a relationship. I wouldn’t be surprised if she got married and lived her life like her parents, the ones she was so desperately trying to avoid becoming.
No matter how hard we try to avoid becoming the things we hate, we always regress back to what we know best.
