Do I have it? Sometimes I think so. Today was an example that I didn’t feel like I had it. At work, someone asked a question about Excel, and I was going to ignore it, but I decided to enter into the office and try to figure this problem out. I hadn’t done mail merges in at least 10 years or so my memory says so, I don’t think we did this crap in college. But anyway, they wanted 2 fields formatted, zip code and a balance. In Word you have to format these using Alt+F9 to see the page codes, something really crazy like { MAILMERGE “Zip” \# 00000 } to give you a correctly formatted 5 digit zip with 0 start and { MAILMERGE “Balance” \#\$#,###.00 }* for formatting a total balance. And I wouldn’t stop until I figured this out and I eventually did thanks to Google.
And just now, my forums are busted to no end with the Super Quick Replies and I took like 2 minutes earlier this week to fix it and didn’t and just ignored it because no one complained about it, someone did and I just spent 10 minutes researching and fixing it with 1 line of code.
I had nothing else bothering me, just Amaran in the background and PHP code in front of me. I wish I was like this all the time, I’d actually get something accomplished.
